On Good Friday, 3rd April, the familiar Walk of Witness set out from Mere’s Town Square, organised by Churches Together in Mere and District. People of all ages took turns carrying the cross and sharing readings along the way, with the children carrying it for one whole stage.
The weather was bright and dry, and the cross was raised at the top of Castle Hill overlooking the town. A few walkers even descended the steep side usually left to experienced climbers.
The walk was well attended, and many later met again at 12:30 pm for a popular Lent Lunch at The Grove Building, followed by the Good Friday Liturgy at the church.
